Prof Thierry Naas’s talk on rapid antimicrobial resistance detection methods was successfully held on 9th October! Prof Naas’s wealth of knowledge and experience molecular epidemiology and transmission dynamics of the AMRs yet easily understandable and useful for daily practice! The event was very well received by the audiences. We would like to thank everyone who attended the seminar that made it a successful event.
The HKSMI Scientific Meeting, titled “Usefulness of Rapid Diagnostics to Tackle AMR,” was held on the evening of 9 October 2024 (Wednesday) at The Cityview, 23 Waterloo Road, Hong Kong. We are honored to have renowned speaker Professor Thierry Naas, who shared with us his expertise on emerging antibiotic resistance.

The 20th AGM of HKSMI cum Scientific Seminar followed by Society Dinner, was held on 13th September 2024 (Friday) evening at W Hotel. The theme of our scientific seminar is “Value of Rapid syndromic Testing on Respiratory Infection”.
The seminar centered on the value of Rapid Syndromic Testing for Respiratory Infections, covering both laboratory and clinical aspects. The presentations provided important insights into how rapid testing can enhance diagnosis and treatment in clinical practice. Thank you to everyone who attended!

The scientific meeting was fantastic. Dr. Lily Cheng discussed the topic of anti-fungal susceptibility and Dr. Kurup shared experience on anti-fungal treatment. The collaboration between the Hong Kong Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (HKSMI) and the Society of Infectious Disease was a great success, and we hope to have more opportunities for collaboration in the future.
