HKSMI Scientific Meeting: Innovations in Infectious Disease Diagnostics-Hepatitis and STI Solutions 8 May 2026
On 8 May, we hosted an evening seminar with the support of Hologic, attended by over 200 of our members.
The seminar focused on contemporary testing solutions for hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections (STIs), providing important updates on evolving diagnostic approaches in these critical areas of healthcare.
Dr. Hung (Taiwan) delivered a comprehensive presentation on the current status, methodologies, and recent advancements in Hepatitis B and C testing.
Mr. Chee (Singapore) shared the latest updates and innovative solutions for Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) and broader STI testing protocols.
The event successfully facilitated knowledge sharing and meaningful discussions, reinforcing our shared commitment to advancing diagnostic excellence and improving patient care.

Prof Thierry Naas’s talk on rapid antimicrobial resistance detection methods was successfully held on 9th October! Prof Naas’s wealth of knowledge and experience molecular epidemiology and transmission dynamics of the AMRs yet easily understandable and useful for daily practice! The event was very well received by the audiences. We would like to thank everyone who attended the seminar that made it a successful event.
The HKSMI Scientific Meeting, titled “Usefulness of Rapid Diagnostics to Tackle AMR,” was held on the evening of 9 October 2024 (Wednesday) at The Cityview, 23 Waterloo Road, Hong Kong. We are honored to have renowned speaker Professor Thierry Naas, who shared with us his expertise on emerging antibiotic resistance.

The 20th AGM of HKSMI cum Scientific Seminar followed by Society Dinner, was held on 13th September 2024 (Friday) evening at W Hotel. The theme of our scientific seminar is “Value of Rapid syndromic Testing on Respiratory Infection”.
The seminar centered on the value of Rapid Syndromic Testing for Respiratory Infections, covering both laboratory and clinical aspects. The presentations provided important insights into how rapid testing can enhance diagnosis and treatment in clinical practice.
